Cimento Nassau — Itautinga

Conversion of an electrostatic precipitator to a baghouse for the clinker kiln

The work aimed to improve particulate collection and operating safety while reusing components of the existing installation.

Filtration system — Cimento Nassau, Itautinga.

The challenge

The electrostatic precipitator had maintenance difficulties and was sensitive to changes in weather and process conditions, reducing collection efficiency. Modernization needed to combine emission control, safety, and reuse of the installed structure.

The solution

The precipitator casing and hoppers were reused. Manufacturing an additional casing and hopper section allowed flow rate and internal velocities to be adapted to the new filtration configuration.

The work included installation of filter elements and a new cleaning plenum, as well as a new fan sized to handle the converted system's pressure drop.

The results

The conversion produced a more efficient system, with greater environmental safety and improved occupational safety and maintenance conditions.
